Discover Our Team’s Journeys at Coinford

Read below to learn about our staff’s experiences and see how they’ve advanced within the company.

I started with Coinford as an apprentice in 2016 as an assistant engineer which gave me a great understanding of site standards and drawings for both groundworks and RC Frames. I have progressed to a junior engineer after furthering my knowledge and understanding and now a site engineer during this period.

Coinford were always helpful in every stage of my career. During my time, I have always worked with highly experienced engineers and managers that have pushed me to get the best out of myself with great support and guidance.

I have also used all types of engineering equipment with Coinford as they have vast range for all construction needs from standard EDM’s, Robotic and now GPS rovers.

Joining Coinford in 2021 after nearly a decade in the merchant industry was a pivotal moment in my career, as I sought to challenge myself with a new role in the construction industry. Stepping into the Buyer role at Coinford has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Over the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of learning from some of the most knowledgeable professionals in the industry. The exposure to various construction sites has been invaluable, providing me with a hands-on understanding of our needs and goals. Additionally, visiting suppliers has deepened my appreciation for the critical role a strong supply chain plays in ensuring our projects are well-serviced and built on solid foundations.

The support I’ve received at Coinford has been instrumental in my growth. Coinfords emphasis on excellence in all aspects – whether it’s having the best teams, the best plant, or delivering top-notch service – has driven me to continuously improve and contribute more effectively to our collective success.

The opportunities for learning and development, combined with a deep-seated culture of excellence, make Coinford a place where careers can truly develop and thrive. Coinford values continuous improvement and invests in its people, ensuring that we’re always equipped to meet the challenges of the construction industry head-on.

As a 25-Year-old Senior Engineer, I often get asked by people outside the company “How have you managed this role at a young age?”. The answer is simple, Coinford and their trust! I have worked for Coinford since leaving College at 17 and have seen how quickly you can go from being a worker to part of the Family.

Being incredibly lucky I found myself in an apprenticeship with Coinford where they invested their time, effort and money into me to help me grow a career out of a passion for engineering. Over the years I have learnt that Coinford are more than just a company to work for, guiding me through my HNC at Greenwich University, it became clear to me that Coinford were seeking to guide and help build peoples careers and skills through their years of experience.

Being involved in major Projects like Temple Hill, Dickens Gate, Martello Lakes and Whitfield I feel incredibly privileged to be able to boast about the vast array of projects Coinford has allowed me to see. From setting out large podium slabs in Temple Hill to overseeing major deep drainage works in Martello Lakes and Whitfield, there has been very little Coinford has yet to show me!

Coinford’s multitude of departments have been a great asset in making my time at Coinford a pleasant one. All departments work effectively and help to create a well-oiled machine that is Coinford, I know I can rely on the backing of our departments to help Construction run smoothly.

Seeing Coinford’s devotion to health and safety really helps me to know that not only will I be able to carry out all work safely and effectively, but also go home at the end of the day safe and secure! Something which I greatly appreciate.

The tools available to myself for engineering purposes are always top quality and are held to a high standard of care and calibration. Many new implementations across Coinford have also been a great addition, like the GPS units for our excavators. The support and help that comes with these tools if needed is always greatly appreciated also.

To conclude, my long time at Coinford has lead my to understand that Coinford not only invest and care about their teams, but invest and care about their plant, offices and quality of work we hand over. It has been a privilege working at Coinford and would highly recommend them to anyone look for a career in the Civil Engineering and Groundworks path.

I have been working for Coinford since 2018 when I was given the opportunity to join the H&S Department as an apprentice. I was supported through learning all of the basics of H&S legislation, as well as how to practically apply safe working measures on site, gaining first-hand knowledge on the ground and eventually obtaining a SHE Technician Level 3.

After completing my apprenticeship I began working as a H&S Advisor, supervising a group of sites completing weekly inspections, advising sites on legislative changes and beginning to carry out training sessions on sites in topics such as abrasive wheels and face fit testing.

Last year I was promoted to H&S Manager with the increased responsibility of supervising other junior operatives and apprentices which is role that I have accepted with great pride. It is a goal of mine to introduce young women into the construction industry to showcase the varied career prospects working in the construction industry and with a company like Coinford can have.

I have been supported throughout my career by amazing colleges with a wealth of experience to share, from people based in the office as well as the site teams on the ground. I never would have thought a career in construction was for me, but I feel incredibly lucky to have found Coinford who have given me amazing opportunities, career progression and have helped me grow in confidence and feel empowered as a person.”

I started working with Coinford in 2016 while I decided what path to choose as I finished school. During that time, it was an invaluable experience.

Moving forward six years I came back as a trainee manager to help me gain experience while I complete my diploma in project management. The hands-on learning at the start with the lads on site has truly helped me understand the trade. I’m grateful for the opportunity to gain practical skills and insights.

My time at Coinford has been incredibly rewarding. The company not only provided me with training but also offered continuous support and opportunities to advance in my career. With their guidance, I’ve gained valuable skills and experience, allowing me to move up the ladder and take on more responsibility. I’m grateful for the growth I’ve achieved here and look forward to continuing my journey with such a dedicated and forward-thinking company.

I want to thank the entire team for their help and encouragement throughout my time here.

Bring on many more years with Coinford.

Conor Power

I have worked for Coinford for nearly 15 years now and have enjoyed my time with the company. I started as a machine operator and over the years have been promoted to foreman, site manger and then into my current job role of project manager.

Coinford are a great company to work for, they invest in their workforce, nurture potential and go above and beyond to invest in their operatives and ensure they are provided with any industry training they require to further their knowledge and expertise in groundworks and civil engineering.

The company has great systems in place which make the day to day running and record keeping for the projects smooth and efficient which in turn helps ensure that projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.

All departments of Coinford are well structured, helpful and the construction management framework works very well. When graduating into a higher job role at Coinford you always have a good support network around you to help you along if and when required.

The company invests heavily in plant each year which means we always have the best tools available to complete each project.

I would recommend Coinford to anyone working in the groundworks and civil engineering industry, or anyone contemplating a career in the industry. I can see myself working for Coinford for many more years to come.

I started with Coinford at the age of 18  jumping into the construction industry blind but willing to learn. That was almost 20 years ago now!! Most of my working life has been with Coinford and I have never felt the need to test the waters elsewhere as the company has always catered to my needs and I feel the support and help to progress has been there from the start until now. My time at Coinford has seen me progress from labourer to site manager and as I have evolved so have Coinford.

I find the day to day running of the company and procedures they have outline everyone’s roles, tasks and functionality to form a growing and fully functional company which is evident from the amount of clients that so often award them work.

Coinford has always been a great company to work for even with growth I feel the ethics, attitude and feel of the company has remained the same as it was when I started. With growth it’s great to see the expansion of plant and technology in a ever changing industry and I feel it’s great working for a company who are willing to invest to test out and try new things especially when we can see the difference out in the field.

Coinford have always helped with training and progression which I feel has helped me grow as a person which has benefitted me in work and outside of work especially with learning the 7 habits. At the time I was not aware of what the 7 habits was and looked at it as training but upon learning I was surprised how much it was aimed at myself as a person and respected the fact that Coinford invested for myself and many others In to something that would help in day to day life rather than just as a worker or employee.

I can see myself working for Coinford for many years and would highly recommend Coinford to anyone from a youngster starting out in the industry to a seasoned vet in any position or job role.

James Robinson

I started at Coinford in 2016 as the workshops first apprentice plant fitter.

Everything about the construction industry was new to me and this gave me a hands on learning experience amongst a great close knit team. After a few years and once qualified I ended up having my own apprentice in the workshop which brought a new challenge and way of working which I feel I benefited from.

Being in the workshop gave me more mechanical experience that I could’ve ever needed due to the vast and ever growing fleet of plant. I am now out of the workshop and expanding my knowledge as a mobile fitter within Coinford which allows me to engage more with the outside workings of the company and producing a new challenge for me to tackle.

Working and growing at Coinford has given me self confidence, initiative and experience which has made me who I am today and the support and opportunities that have been made available to me during my time have attributed to this.

I started my career at Coinford almost 10 years ago as a Plant Hire Administrator.  I have been entrusted with responsibilities and opportunities from the start which helped me to accelerate my growth.  I have progressed to Hire Manager, Business Process and Reporting Manager, Operations Manager, to currently Plant Hire Office Manager for Coinford.

One of the things that impresses me about Coinford is the attitude of the employees, I get a sense of company loyalty in most members of the team mixed with genuine job satisfaction.  Another great thing about working at Coinford is that a typical day is never typical, there is always something challenging happening and every day is filled with learning something new.

Coinford prioritises safety above all else, workplaces are maintained to ensure they are safe and without health risks with good facilities and arrangements for employees’ welfare.

The business continually invests in new plant to ensure we have the best and most up to date equipment for our clients

Coinford has a proactive approach to employee wellbeing, training and mentoring, and frequently organises social events, Coinford also recognises and celebrates success across the business

Overall Coinford has been one of the best places to work, I highly recommend Coinford to anybody wanting an enjoyable long career.

I started with Coinford as an apprentice in 2016 as an assistant engineer and over the years I have worked up to becoming a junior engineer and now becoming a site engineer due to the support of others within the company

Coinford are a company that takes pride in the quality and standard of work that they produce and strive for the best which is why they provide lots of training to its workforce

In 2020 I had asked to join an apprenticeship to further my knowledge of engineering and by the end of 2023 I had manage to achieve a distinction grade in level 4 HNC civil engineering due to the skills and knowledge I picked up while on the job and from amazing teams we have on site

I have been working for Coinford for over 12 years through various roles and departments. I was a technician working in the Car industry and wanted to get into the Construction industry. I joined Coinford and worked out in the yard to get a better idea of construction and all the equipment involved, after a while I moved into the Workshop as a fitter to prepare and repair all the plant. While in the Workshop Coinford put me through a GNVQ in Plant maintenance and repair and various other courses to help me develop. After 4 years at Coinford I moved into the Plant office and was on the Groundworks and Formwork hire desk liaising with sites and putting their orders through the yard, I did this for 5 years. Now I am working in the workshop office as the Breakdown Controller, dealing with sites problems and controlling Five mobile fitters.

During my time at Coinford I have found the company to be very professional and willing to help push and progress their staff’s Knowledge and skills to higher levels. I have met and worked alongside some amazing people who are always willing to help and give support when needed.  Coinford put Safety and staff welfare first and often provide staff with excellent social events and activities outside of work.

I began with Coinford 10 years ago, starting without any prior experience in Finance. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work in all three of Coinford’s Finance departments, growing both professionally and personally.

My career started in the Payables, where I was introduced to the intricacies of finance, I gradually developed my skills and advanced into the role of Supervisor, taking on more responsibilities and refining my leadership abilities.

Driven by my interest in the AAT qualification, I transitioned into Management Accounts. Coinford’s unwavering support during my studies, particularly during the challenges posed by Covid, was invaluable in helping me achieve the qualification.

Currently, I am working in the Payroll department, where I have discovered an unexpected new career path as a business analyst. The support and encouragement I’ve received have empowered me to develop my skills in report writing, leading to the creation of multiple new reports and a deeper understanding of the business’s needs.

Having worked across all three finance departments, I possess a comprehensive understanding of their operations. This insight has enabled me to implement new processes and identify areas for development, contributing to the continuous improvement of our financial practices.

The past 10 years with Coinford have flown by, and I am excited for what the next decade holds!
